Ex-Athletic Director Files Breach of Contract Lawsuit Against Southern University

Former Southern University Athletic Director Greg LaFleur, who was fired after his arrest on a misdemeanor prostitution count earlier this month, is suing the school for breach of contract.

According to court documents, LaFleur claims that Southern University fired him “before giving him written notice and an opportunity to refute the alleged cause [of the termination].” The lawsuit names the Southern University Board of Supervisors as defendants.

The lawsuit also claims the “cause alleged by Southern does not constitute just cause, good cause, reasonable cause, or other cause.”

LaFleur is seeking damages and his base salary for the remainder of his contract, which he says was to expire in 2013.

Southern System spokeswoman Katara Williams declined to comment on the lawsuit.
