A man in Tennessee has appealed a judges $850,000 ruling in a breach of contract lawsuit.
According to court documents, gun-maker Ronnie Barrett is appealing a judge’s decision to award Brenda Benz-Elliot $850,000 in her breach of contract lawsuit against him over access to property near Buchanan, Tennessee. Barrett filed the appeal March 16 in the Tennessee Court of Appeals and is asking for the delay of the financial ruling against him until the appeal is complete.
In October 2010, a judge ruled that Barrett had breached a contract with Elliot by not building an access road to her property and failing to reserve 60 feet for access in front of his arms manufacturing plant. Barrett bought five acres of land from Elliot in 2005 for expansion of the plant with stipulations for access to her land. Barrett was seeking to provide easy access to a new entrance of his expanded facility, but the Tennessee Department of Transportation never gave him final approval for the design.
